Smart Road Infrastructure Using LiFi-Based Roadside Units for Next-Generation Vehicular Networks
Аннотация
This paper will present a smart road infrastructure architecture, including Light Fidelity (LiFi) enabled roadside units (RSUs) to enhance next-generation vehicular networks with ultra-low latency and high-throughput and localized communication services. We introduce system design, channel and link model, considerations of resources allocation, and performance comparison of LiFi RSUs and conventional DSRC/5G sidelinks when the highway is subject to normal traffic conditions. In a small scale simulation, in throughput and during packet delivery, the dependence of vehicle speed and density of the RSU is showed. An analytical model, diagram, parameter table, and plotted results have been incorporated in the paper. The main results point to the fact that LiFi RSUs are capable of delivering multi-hundred Mbps connections in line-of-sight and can be used as offload hotspots that are local to the cellular networks.
