Аннотация

By measuring the duration of care planning activities carried out by healthcare administration platforms in the assisted living sector and identifying the main structural and behavioral determinants influencing this process (including inputs from the different stakeholder groups), this study contributes to deepening our understanding of the efficiency of care coordination in organizations operating in long-term care and, particularly, in the assisted living context, for which no previous empirical research on this issue could be identified. The objective of this paper is to analyze the capacity of administrative systems to support the design of care pathways formed in a residential environment. The present analysis was aimed to assess how the probability of retention is affected by organizational characteristics and whether it is a good indicator to predict outcomes. Model estimation focused on hazard functions of planning duration, platform usage, and survival model parameters, and included structural equation modeling and regression-based adjustments and a robustness check. Data was collected using in vivo platform logs, survey instruments, archival recordings along with administrative reports and clinical assessments in assisted living facilities, healthcare centers or community-based settings. The results reveal that the level of process integration is low in the sample organizations and that the size of the facility, the resources from administrative infrastructure, and the experience and strategic orientation of the organization's top management have a significant influence on the level of care planning performance. In terms of policy implications, findings suggest that administrators should play a more active role in shaping planning processes in assisted living, particularly in the adoption of digital platforms.
