The State of Basketball Globally and in Uzbekistan
Аннотация
Basketball has grown into one of the most popular and widely played sports globally, with a rich history and a strong foundation in international cooperation. The sport, invented by James Naismith in 1891, has evolved significantly over the decades, becoming a major cultural and athletic phenomenon. The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has played a crucial role in promoting and regulating basketball worldwide, ensuring that the sport continues to grow in both competitiveness and inclusivity. Major basketball leagues such as the National Basketball Association (NBA), EuroLeague, and the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) have contributed to the sport’s global appeal by showcasing high-level talent and fostering international participation. Additionally, the Basketball Federation of Uzbekistan (BFU) has been instrumental in developing the sport within the country, focusing on youth development, national leagues, and international representation. The FIBA World Cup remains one of the most prestigious international basketball tournaments, bringing together nations from around the world to compete at the highest level. This event not only highlights the sport’s global reach but also promotes cultural exchange and unity among participating countries. In Uzbekistan, basketball continues to gain momentum as the BFU works to improve infrastructure, training programs, and competitive opportunities. Despite challenges such as limited resources and facilities, the federation remains committed to advancing the sport and increasing its popularity among young athletes.
