Modern trends demonstrate a decrease in the number of teachers and medical professionals in public institutions. The professions of doctors and teachers are currently among the most in-demand. This article explores the professional aspirations of students pursuing education and medical professions. The study aims to understand the professional orientations of students in the fields of education and medicine. Also, the career orientations of students in the fields of education and medicine were analyzed. According to expectations of future teachers and doctors, they were divided into professional categories regarding their professional activities. To assess professional inclinations, a study was conducted using the Edgar Schein test, published in 2002. This test includes eight different parameters that classify professional orientation. According to pedagogical students, «Service» and «Lifestyle Integration» play an important role for them, while medical students describe the importance of the «Entrepreneurship» category. Medical students stress that well-being encompasses the integration of various aspects of life for comprehensive development. Future teachers from Moscow and Kazan received the lowest scores in the «Professional Competence» category. The work explores the key factors that influence the choice of a professional path, such as motivation, career aspirations, working conditions, and opportunities for professional development. The study focuses on a comparative analysis of the career goals in these two fields, allowing for the identification of specific needs and expectations for each group of students.The authors’ findings can be used in the creation of modern programs and innovative projects aimed at teaching and medical professions.
