Linguocultural Aspects of English Loanword Integration in Korean And Karakalpak
Аннотация
This study explores the linguocultural aspects of English loanword integration in Korean and Karakalpak from a comparative perspective. In the context of globalization, English serves as a major source of lexical borrowing, influencing languages with different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. The research aims to analyze how English loanwords are adapted not only linguistically but also culturally in the two languages. The study is based on qualitative analysis of data collected from dictionaries and contemporary media sources, including social media and online communication. The findings reveal that Korean demonstrates a high level of linguocultural transformation, where loanwords often acquire new symbolic meanings shaped by popular culture, branding, and global media. In contrast, Karakalpak shows a more functional approach to loanword integration, influenced by socio-economic conditions and multilingual interaction, with relatively moderate semantic changes. The comparative analysis highlights the role of cultural context in shaping the meaning and usage of borrowed words. The study contributes to the field of linguoculturology by emphasizing the interaction between language, culture, and globalization, and provides insights into cross-linguistic variation in loanword adaptation.
