Аннотация

This study focuses on the role of strategic entrepreneurship in herd size expansion in dairy farming in Southern Punjab, Pakistan. The research objective is to determine whether the implementation of efficient entrepreneurial approaches affects the expansion of herd size at the farm level. Utilising primary data obtained from 273 dairy farmers, this study uses ordered probit models to explore the nexus between strategic entrepreneurship and dairy farm size. The results suggest that agricultural extension services, exclusive use of expansion and diversification entrepreneurial strategies, milking machines, and silage feed affect the expansion of herd size. From a policy perspective, the imperative policy option is seen in the creation of an efficient entrepreneurial environment (exclusive adoption of entrepreneurship of expansion and diversification by the dairy farmer) coupled with modern technologies of dairy farming (milking machines and silage feed). Additionally, access to agricultural extension services helps farmers expand their herds in the dairy sector in developing countries. This research contributes to the larger debate on efficient approaches to entrepreneurship in the livestock sector of developing countries by focusing on the specific context of Pakistan.
