Аннотация

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies has significantly influenced modern education, particularly foreign language teaching and learning. Among various language skills, writing plays a crucial role in fostering analytical reasoning, creativity, and critical thinking. This article explores the potential of AI-assisted writing activities in developing critical thinking skills among English language learners. The study discusses the theoretical relationship between critical thinking and writing, examines the educational value of AI-based tools such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, and QuillBot, and analyzes how these technologies can support idea generation, argument development, feedback, and reflective learning. The article also highlights pedagogical strategies for integrating AI-assisted writing tasks into English language classrooms while maintaining academic integrity and learner autonomy. The findings suggest that properly guided AI-assisted writing activities can enhance students’ higher-order thinking skills, independent learning abilities, and writing performance.
