Cybercrime Investigations and Forensic Readiness in Tourism Ecosystems

Tourism Ecosystems are increasingly becoming more digital, thereby enhancing efficiency and customer experiences, and have also made the industry vulnerable to various complicated cyberattacks, such as phishing, ransomware, identity theft, and payment fraud. The chapter discusses how digital forensics can be used to investigate and mitigate the risks associated with cyber threats, while also ensuring the integrity of evidence and compliance with regulations. It presents case study responses to forensics and lessons to organizational preparedness through case studies of hotel and airline breaches. New technologies, including AI, blockchain, and IoT-related forensic models, are presented and recommendations grounded in practice are given. Cybersecurity strategies can be improved by focusing on forensic preparedness, helping tourism organizations become more resilient, maintain customer trust, and ensure safe digital operations in a highly connected world.
