In the article, we consider the forward and inverse problems for a fractional partial differential equation of the Barenblatt–Zheltov–Kochina type. Conditions are derived that guarantee the existence and uniqueness of a solution to the initial-boundary value problem for the considering equations. We also consider an inverse problem on determining the right-hand side of the equation.
