<p>This volume comprises a carefully selected collection of articles emerging from and pertinent to the 2010 CFL-80 conference in Rio de Janeiro, celebrating the 80<sup>th</sup> anniversary of the Courant–Friedrichs–Lewy (CFL) condition.
