The International Practical Temperature Scale of 1968

The Comité International des Poids et Mesures (CIPM) at its meeting in October 1968 agreed to adopt the International Practical Temperature Scale of 1968 (IPTS-68) in accordance with the decision of the 13e Conférence Générale des Poids et Mesures, Resolution 8, of October 1967. This resolution gave the CIPM permission to introduce a new Scale to replace the existing IPTS-48 as soon as the Comité Consultatif de Thermométrie (CCT) made its recommendations.
