PROJECT-BASED LEARNING AND GENAI FOR SUSTAINABLE HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT: PREPARING STUDENTS FOR THE MODERN LABOUR MARKET

This article explores the role of project-based learning (PBL) enhanced by Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools as a mechanism for sustainable human capital development. Grounded in competency-based and activity-based approaches, and structured within the CLEAR framework (Collaborative, Learner-centred, Exploratory, Adaptive, Reflective), a qualitative-descriptive empirical study with 120 undergraduate students across two semesters demonstrates how this integrated pedagogical model fosters students' social adaptation, professional identity, and readiness for the evolving labour market - key dimensions of SDG 4 (Quality Education). Findings indicate significantly higher levels of social adaptation in the PBL+GenAI cohort (68% high adaptation level) compared to traditional learning environments (22%), alongside improvements in career-related confidence and self-efficacy. However, the paper also acknowledges important risks of GenAI use, including potential superficial learning, academic integrity concerns, and the need for structured pedagogical scaffolding to mitigate overdependence on AI tools.
