Annotatsiya

The structure of solid N2-Ar mixtures has been investigated by the transmission electron diffraction method. The observations were conducted both at the condensation temperatures (5°K and 28 °K to 30 °K) and in the process of subsequent temperature change right up to sublimation of the specimens, which took place at T = 33°K to T = 35 °K. Analysis of the experimental data carried out in the paper showed that in the high temperature region in the indicated system, the equilibrium phase is hexagonal close packed. With decrease of temperature, either a face centered cubic, an α-N2 structure, or both phases simultaneously are realized, depending on the concentration of the components. The N2-Ar phase diagram is qualitatively similar to the CO-Ar diagram. It has been determined that a solution of argon in solid nitrogen leads to excessive loosening of the N2 lattice. Possible reasons for this effect are presented.
