Annotatsiya

The radiation of crystalline nitrogen corresponding to the transition between two high-lying triplet states C3→ B3Πg is discovered. The spectrum of this transition in the crystal possesses an interesting feature–the agreement between the frequencies of the electron-vibrational-rotational transitions and those in the gas. The effect of free molecule rotation in the lattice is observed in both excited states. A possible mechanism for the formation of self-localized states C3Πu and B3Πg in the nitrogen lattice is discussed.
