Light absorption dichroism and the magnetic configuration of weakly ferromagnetic CoCO3

We have studied the dichroism of excitonic optical absorption in weakly ferromagnetic CoCO2. A correlation is demonstrated between the orientation of the antiferromagnetic vector l with respect to the C3 axis and the magnitude of the dichroism. It is shown that the vector l lies in the basal plane.
