Annotatsiya

We have measured the specific heat of solid nitrogen in the temperature interval 1.8−6 °K. The limiting low-temperature value of the Debye temperature found is θ0 = 83.6 °K. The specific heat of solid mixtures of N2−O2, containing 1, 2, and 5% O2, has also been studied. It is shown that the experimental results may be described in terms of a model in which, along with effects due to splitting of the ground triplet state of the O2 molecule, the contributions of pairs and triplets of exchange bound oxygen molecules are also taken into account.
