An exact formula is obtained for the weak-field orbital magnetic susceptibility of Bloch electrons for an arbitrary band structure of the crystal. For metals with the hcp structure, the general expression can be expressed in terms of the model parameters of the electron energy spectrum. The results of this work are consistent with various limiting cases obtained earlier, and make it possible to use the field dependence of the magnetic susceptibility to study the electron structure of the crystals.
