The quantum ground state and low temperature magnetization of a weakly biaxial Heisenberg ferromagnet

The energy and wave function of the quantum ground state are found for a Heisenberg ferromagnet, in which the anisotropy field along one of the major axes is weak in comparison with the effective field (sum of the external field and the anisotropy field) along the other axis. The magnetization at zero temperature is also calculated. A comparison is made with the results of a semiclassical treatment.
