Annotatsiya

The attenuation of ultrasound transmitted through a thin metal layer in a magnetic field is analyzed under very general assumptions about the interaction of charge carriers with the surface of the sample. The influence of specific topological features of the electron spectrum on the amplitude of the Sondheimer-type oscillatory size effect is discussed for both longitudinal and transverse acoustic waves. It is shown that resonance effects in thin samples can be more pronounced than in the bulk metal.
