Annotatsiya

The thermal expansion and isothermal compressibility of solid normal deuterium have been measured near the melting line at pressures up to 500 atm. The method of measurement developed earlier has been improved to increase the range of working pressures. The effects produced by zero point translational vibrations on the thermodynamic properties of deuterium are discussed. The change in molar volume in the temperature range from T = 0 to the melting temperature is considered as a characteristic of quantum crystals. Values of the molar volumes on the melting line at moderate pressures are compared and refined. The molar volume of o-D2 at P = 0, T = 0 determined from the results of the thermodynamic experiment is V00 = (20.03 ±0.07) cm3·mole−1.
