A specific type of electromagnetic mode propagating near the surface in a metal—the near-surface doppleron—is described. This mode is excited by a Rayleigh acoustic wave and has two components, resulting in the existence of two near-surface doppleron-phonon resonances, which are separated with respect to the magnetic field.
