Annotatsiya
On the basis of an analysis of the structural features, magnetic susceptibility, and magnetic heat capacity of a γ-O2 crystal we conclude that γ-O2 is a quasi-one-dimensional magnetic material, i.e., during the β–γ transition the magnetic subsystem of the crystal is transformed from quasi-two-dimensional into quasi-one-dimensional. The possibility of low-dimensional magnetic phases of various dimensions occurring in solid oxygen is associated with the distinctive features of the orientational subsystem of the crystal. We express some ideas about the retention of the γ-phase structure as a short-range order in liquid oxygen.
