Annotatsiya
We report high-resolution VUV luminescence spectra of pure crystalline argon and of neon doped with argon over the temperature range 5–12 K. We have measured the emission of atomic centers which are sensitive to the lattice structure. In solid neon at 10.5 K a local rearrangement of the lattice is observed, induced by the argon dopant. We propose that the observed rearrangement represents a “local phase transition” of the type fcc–hcp in the vicinity of the impurity centers.
