Kinetics of phonon–impurity system of 3He–4He superfluid solutions (review)

A review of experimental and theoretical works characterizing the state of the art of the kinetics of 3He–4He solutions is presented. The main emphasis is laid on recent investigations that have removed serious discrepancies that existed between theory and experiment for many years. The results on the velocity and absorption of the first sound, absorption of the second sound, diffusion, viscosity, thermal conductivity, and thermal distribution have been analyzed on the basis of a deeper insight into the kinetics of processes in the 3He–4He solutions. The relation between relaxation processes in the phonon–impurity system and specific features of dispersion of the phonon spectrum in 3He–4He solutions is considered.
