Corrections to the ground-state energy of a spin chain with a Dzyaloshinskii-type interaction due to weak biaxial magnetic anisotropy are determined. It is shown that in this case spin complexes of the unperturbed system make a considerable contribution to the ground-state energy. The quantum treatment of the behavior of the spin chain is compared with a classical treatment for s → ∞ (s is the spin of a site).
