Annotatsiya

The behavior of the velocities of sound and thermal expansion in the perovskite-type layered compound (C2H5NH3)2MnCl4 is studied. It is shown that the antiferromagnetic ordering (TN = 42 K) in this compound is preceded by a structural phase transition (T0 = 47 K). Singularities in the velocity of sound near the spin-flop transition are used to construct the H–T diagram for this antiferromagnet. In the temperature region T < 10 K, singularities are observed in the absorption and velocity of sound, which can be treated as a relaxation interaction of acoustic vibrations with inhomogeneous crystal states.
