Annotatsiya

This paper is a review of works devoted to the experimental and theoretical studies of low-temperature plasticity of bcc metals and alloys, alkali halide crystals with an NaCl-type lattice, and other materials whose deformation is controlled by the Peierls mechanism. Attention is paid to several peculiarities on the temperature dependence of the yield point and the rate sensitivity of deforming stress, which consist in noticeable departures from classical Arrhenius equation. Theoretical hypotheses are discussed to qualitatively explain the observed anomalies in the quantum effects under a low-temperature movement of dislocations. A qualitative comparison between theoretical and experimental results is presented.
