Longitudinal magnetoresistance of conductors at high current densities
Annotatsiya
The mechanisms leading to deviations from Ohm’s law in conductors placed in a uniform constant external magnetic field H0 parallel to the direction of the current j at low temperatures are studied theoretically. The quantum and classical corrections to longitudinal conductivity are calculated for bismuth-type metals. The electric current distribution over the cross section of a metal plate of thickness d exceeding the mean free path of charge carriers is obtained under the conditions of the dynamic nonlinear effect caused by the influence of the magnetic field of current on the ballistics of conduction electrons. It is shown that by varying the value of H0, it is possible to analyze separately the dynamic nonlinear effect and the deviation from Ohm’s law due to heating of charge carriers.
