The problem of electron impact ionization of the hydrogen atom at incident electron energies close to the breakup threshold is considered within the framework of three-particle Faddeev-type equations. To solve these equations an approximated modified strong channel coupling method is applied: each Faddeev component is expanded in the eigenfunctions of the discrete spectrum of the target Hamiltonian and final state wavefunctions. The expression for the triply differential cross sections (TDCS) is given for the coplanar symmetric case of equal energy partition between the final state electrons outgoing in opposite directions.
