Structure and thermodynamic properties of SF6
Annotatsiya
The structure and thermal expansion of the high-temperature phase of sulfur hexafluoride have been investigated by the x-ray diffraction technique. It is shown that the structure of SF6 corresponds to the bcc lattice with a space symmetry Im3m and molecular orientation along the main crystallographic directions. Extensive data are obtained on the temperature dependence of lattice parameters, molar volumes, and coefficients of thermal expansion. Other thermodynamic characteristics including the Grüneisen parameter, Debye temperature, and the components of the total heat capacity of the crystal are also analyzed. The effect of dynamic molecular disordering with increasing temperature on the structure and thermodynamic properties of SF6 is established.
