Effect of pressure on the magnetic susceptibility of CeB6

The effect of uniform compression on the magnetic susceptibility of CeB6 is investigated at 20.4, 78, and 296 K. The results are analyzed by using a theory taking into account the joint influence of the Kondo effect and crystal field on the susceptibility. The dependences of microscopic characteristics of the system, viz., the splitting of the 2F5/2 multiplet by the crystal field and of the Kondo interaction parameter, on the atomic volume are obtained.
