Abstract Stirling Engines provide several advantages over existing types of engines. In particular their performance meets the demands for the efficient use of energy and environmental security. To realise the potential performance of a Stirling Engine it is important to accurately model its working process. In this paper the standard k-c: turbulence model has been used for the two-dimensional simulation of the heat transfer and gas dynamical processes on the external surface of the cavity-type heat receiver of a Stirling Engine for a Solar Power Plant.
