Experimental Study on Thermal Neutron Phase Contrast Radiography

Phase contrast imaging is a bran-new development of neutron radiography.The authors' objective are to investigate the theory of neutron phase contrast radiography and to explore the experiment feasibility of SPRR-300 neutron radiography system and the method of improving the quality for detecting small or thin sample with low mass attenuation coefficient.The authors brought forward a experiment project for neutron phase contrast radiography,which is based on the characteristic of SPRR-300 neutron radiography system.They made several experiments,and the results partly tally with the theory of in-line phase contrast imaging.Although the quality of experiment results are not good,but show some characteristic of phase contrast imaging in a certain extent.So it is confirmed that the contributions of phase contrast were improved in these results.For the limitations of the experiment condition and time,the characteristic of phase contrast imaging were not revealed adequately.
