Digital showcase through open source products

The aim of the course of Drawing Techniques – 1 degree in Graphic and Virtual Design is to give a basic knowledge about different freehand drawings. We focused the attention on some themes: graphic design, sketching design, working drawing. We analyzed these features using firstly a theoretical approach and then applying them in various working exercises. When we present the best works we exploited digital media support, making use of open source software: user-friendly and effective in showing the power of digital graphic applied to different areas. We used software to make videos, to create web photo galleries and virtual museum in 3D environment. Public exhibition aims to kick up a positive competition among the students, encouraging profitable debates on some themes faced during the course. It’s a useful approach to introduce students to the different applications of digital media, applications that they will deeply analyze in the next years.
