Investigation on tachinid flies parasitizing Endoclyta signifer and observation on its adult biology

To clarify the species,distribution and control effect of tachinid flies parasitizing Endoclyta signifer in Guangxi,eucalyptus w ood sections w ere brought back from the occurrence area of E. signifer to collect tachinid flies betw een Jan. and M ay of 2012 and 2013. A total of 498 tachinid flies w ere collected,w hich w ere all identified as Scaphimyia castanea M esnil. S. castanea distributed in 29 counties among the 38 counties investgated,accounting for 76. 32%; the average parasitization w as 8. 09%,and the highest parasitization w as 33. 33%; S. castanea could mate immediately after the emergence and mainly parasitized the larvae of E. signifier. Its mode of reproduction w as pseudo viviparity. S. castanea laid eggs one w eek after the mating,and the larvae rapidly searched and get into the host.
