A brief essay on Tugay vegetation of the Zarafshan floodplain

The Tugay are characteristic ecosystems of Central Asia, which are strips of thickets or poplar and willow forests growing along rivers. Anthropopression associated with animal husbandry, illegal logging, landfills and changes in water relations, causes the degradation of these valuable ecosystems. The work presents tugai research in the Zarafshan River Valley from the water dispensers in Ravatkhodzhah to the border of the Navoi region. On this section of the river there is a large protected area - Zarafshan Reserve. Floristic results presenting the most important species of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants present in tugay with varying degrees of degradation were described. The measures necessary to protect these valuable ecosystems have been described.
