ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT AS AN ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATORY STRATEGY FOR UZBEKISTAN: ISSUES AND DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS

For a smooth transaction to the “Green” economy, environmental audit is emerging as a demanded area of environmental law. Adoption of a special law to regulate the mechanism of conducting environmental audits in Uzbekistan is required to maintain a balance between economic and environmental priorities. Based on this premise, this article analyzes the dynamics of the development of the institute of environmental audit in Uzbekistan, its relationship with other institutions such as environmental monitoring, cadasters, control, expertise and service, identifies their common and distinctive features, studies the prospects for the use of nanotechnology in determining the conformity of economic activities of business entities activities to the requirements of environmental legislation. Subsequently, this article highlights issues related to the regulation and implementation of the process of environmental audit which further calls for the necessity to improve domestic legislation related to environmental audit.\n\n
