The game of chess is one of the oldest and most interesting kinds sports and art. Its history dates back five thousand years, and historical works provide valuable information about the game of chess (shatrange).\n\n It has been played among the folks of our country for thousands of years. This is evidenced by many historical sources. In the era of the Arab Caliphate, this game was popularized under the name "shatrange". The game of chess was especially developed during the Timurids. In addition to other historical sources, one of the thinkers in his works reports that Alisher Navoi contributed to the rise of the ancient chess culture, took a responsibility of the leading representatives of this sphere and gave them instructions. There is information that such great people as Amir Temur and Alisher Navoi also played chess. The history of chess games is part of the history of Turkestan. Today in our country a lot of attention is paid to the development of chess even among children and youth. \n\n
