Abstract. Clinical course and laboratory characteristics of enteropatogenic (EPEC) and enteroinvasive Escherichia coli infection (EIEC) in children were studied and performed their comparative clinical-laboratory characteristics. Eighty-two patients with early-age escheryhiosis were examined, caused in 28 enteroinvasive, in 54 with enteropathogenic strains. In children of EPEC patients there was a secretory diarrhoea, and EIEC - coletic. More pronounced manifestation of intoxication syndrome was observed in children of EPEC patients. The manifestations of diarrhoeal syndrome and electrolyte metabolism, assessed by dehydration, are more common in children infected with EPEC. If children of EPEC patients encountered complications such as hypovolemic shock and acute renal failure, in children of EIEC patients in the form of complications of infectious toxic shock, neurotoxicosis and ICE syndrome.\n\n
