Annotatsiya

In the article, the history and current situation of the arranged marriage tradition among the Uzbeks is revealed, and its role in the life of the Uzbeks is analyzed from the anthropological point of view. In addition, the importance of the matchmakes to be sent to ask for a girl and the tradition of choosing those matchmakers are examined. In the past, it has been shown in the study that regardless of whether young people met each other or not, the tradition of marriage was one of the basic ethnic conditions of marriage, but today, even though the tradition of asking for a girl is still alive, its influence and decisive role has decreased sharply. In addition, it has been revealed that the tradition of matchmakıng among the Uzbeks is in a crisis, its functions have changed and its essence has been lost. The fact that people who are unprepared are now sent as matchmakers, and that the tradition of the first meeting of young people is done before the event of asking for a girl, has been shown as proof that the effect of this tradition has begun to fade. As a result, it was explained that with disappearance of the tradition of matchmakıng, more independence was left to the youth.
