The results of the analysis of special literature indicate that the term “physical culture and sports” is quite often used in domestic and foreign scientific and social practices. Moreover, its use has a long history and a wide geography, as evidenced by the following materials. This phrase is also used in the materials of international organizations. Thus, the 1989 UNESCO report on the fifty-ninth page states that physical exercise and physical culture and sports have served people faithfully and selflessly since ancient times, and also notes that with the development of mankind, their influence on society is becoming greater. The term “physical culture and sports” is also used in printed publications for the names of the publications themselves or their special sections or articles.
