The article delineates the anthropogenic changes in agricultural landscapes and the formation of agro-landscapes under the influence of human activities. A brief history and current aspects of agricultural landscape research are also described. Agricultural landscapes is a new scientific field that studies the development and functioning of natural-agricultural geosystems formed at the junction of geography and agronomy. The article depicts the main paradigms and definitions of the doctrine of agro-landscapes. The main differences between the doctrine of agro-landscape and agronomy, agro-landscape, and other geosystem sciences are also shown. Moreover, the main features of agro landscapes, the history of their territorial structure, main problems of the study of agro-landscapes are represented. The importance of the doctrine of agro-landscapes in the development of modern agricultural production adapted to the conditions of the environment, the theoretical principles, and experience of the development of adaptive-landscape farming systems are described as well in this article.
