THE CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF THE MEDICINAL PLANT MOMORDICA CHARANTIA L USED IN FOLK MEDICINE

Abstract. The use of medicinal plants in folk medicine, the discovery of their new useful properties, of course, is directly related to their chemical composition. The medicinal plant Momordica charanthia L, studied in our study, is also known for its healing properties since ancient times, this plant, which is native to India, is grown in Asian countries. Based on the research of scientists, we have grown the plant in the climatic conditions of Uzbekistan. It is used in folk medicine due to antihyperglycemic, antibacterial, antiviral, antitumor, immunomodulatory, antioxidant activity, including antidiabetic for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. Various bioactive substances have been found in the plant, including phytochemicals such as proteins, polysaccharides, flavanoids, triterpenes, saponins, ascorbic acid and steroids. As a result of the research, the use of the plant in folk medicine was studied, and the article will also provide information about the chemical composition of the plant.
