Abstract The laser scanning method, used in combination with traditional mine surveying observations, is one of the most effective and safe ways to conduct surveying and instrumental observations on deforming areas of open-pit mining facilities. The article presents the results of ground-based laser scanning of the “Haranutsky” coal pit and performs a comparative analysis to determine the deformations and displacements of the open pit side for different periods, which was performed in the RISCAN PRO environment. Digital Relief Models (DRM) were constructed to distinguish the observation cycles by colors. Based on the results of the monitoring, it was concluded that no critical displacements and deformations were detected, despite the places of small scree deposits in the rock massif, and further systematic observations were recommended.
