AbstractThe lexicons of English and Karakalpak comprise simple and complex words. The complex words focused on in this article are the compound nouns and the main attention is given to the structural and semantic peculiarities of compound nouns in English and Karakalpak languages. Compound nouns are built from already existing and independently occurring morphemes which are joined together according to given word-formation rules. In many modern languages, including English, such words are quite common, and their number is constantly growing.
