Abstract. Often, kidney damage begins and proceeds for a long time without pronounced clinical symptoms. Evaluation of kidney function is important in the management of patients with kidney disease or pathologies that affect kidney function. Renal function tests are useful in detecting the presence of kidney failure, monitoring the kidney's response to treatment, and determining the progression of kidney failure. One of the most important groups of such biomarkers are markers of damage to the glomerular apparatus of the kidneys, such as microalbuminuria, urinary type IV collagen excretion, and increased levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and TGF-β1.
