Abstract The article deals with the issues of large-scale mapping methodology for various landforms of the modern Amudarya delta. In the first, a relief plastic map and maps of the Amu Darya were compiled. In addition, the internal structure of small deltas, uplands and sandy areas is described. When studying the structure of the Earth’s surface, question arises on how it is depicted on maps in space and time. The depiction of the space of the Earth’s surface requires a knowledge of its shape and metrics, i.e. the length, how one system is located with respect to another, and also how their components are located with respect to all the others. On this basis, we applied new method (plastics of a relief) of mapping the forms of the Earth’s surface when using space photographs.
