ASSESSMENT OF CLUSTERING OF POTENTIALS OF THE ECONOMIC SECTORS OF REGIONS

The article is devoted to the issue of assessing the potentials of clustering of economic sectors of regions. The article reviews methods developed by scientists from the United States, Western Europe and the Russian Federation, on assessing the potential of regions for organization and development of cluster activities (potential of clustering). Based on the study of the foreign experience, the author has elaborated a method for assessing potentials of clustering of economic sectors of the regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The proposed method was used for assessing potentials of clustering the textile, food, beverage, leather and related industries having relatively high share in the economy of the Bukhara region. The data provided by the State Statistics Department of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was used as a source of information for the study. The assessment showed that the clustering potential of the textile and clothing industry in the region is higher than of other sectors, thence it was recommended to develop clustering activities belonging to this sector in the region. The proposed method was recommended for use by regional authorities in determining directions of their economic policy.
