Lightweight and ECC Mutual Authentication Algorithms for Secure Data Transmission in WBANs: A Comparative Study
Annotatsiya
Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) have revolutionized healthcare applications by enabling real-time monitoring of vital signs and physiological parameters. However, ensuring the security and privacy of data transmission within WBANs remains a significant challenge due to the sensitive nature of health-related information. The following study offers an extensive comparative analysis that evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of two distinct methodologies: the Lightweight Mutual Authentication and Key Exchange Algorithm (LWMA-KEA) and the Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) Mutual Authentication and Cryptosystem. By conducting a thorough examination of security, computation overhead, and energy consumption metrics, the study seeks to yield insights into determining the most fitting approach for ensuring secure data transmission within WBANs.
