THE GENERAL SITUATION OF HISTORY AND HISTORICAL SCIENCES IN TURKESTAN ON THE EVE OF CHERISH RUSSIA'S CONQUEST

This article highlights the development of Turkestan historiography, in particular, the state of historical research on the eve of the invasion of Tsarist Russia, the analysis of sources, and specific features of local approaches. In addition, the reasons for insufficient implementation of archaeological research in Turkestan are analyzed. It is based on the fact that in the first half of the 19th century, the science of antiquities in Turkestan developed mainly without archaeological research and excavations, and the emergence and development of archeology in the country was directly related to the research of Western scientists.
